The Illinois Student Government is the officially recognized system of student governance at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Our mission is to to "advance the collective interest and safeguarding the rights of the students; maintain the quality of life, education, employment, research, and services at the institution; and provide for the awareness and general welfare of the campus and community."
The Illinois Student Government is made up of graduate and undergraduate students elected to represent students at the University. Student Government sponsors initiatives that address pressing issues on campus, from the sexual assault policy to racial tensions on campus. Student Government seeks to play a role in all aspects of University life, from housing and diversity to funding and dining.
Individually each elected Senator represents their constituency in the Academic Senate.
Constitution and Bylaws
The Illinois Student Government works under a number of governing documents. The Student Government Constitution was ratified by the student body in 2016, and outlines the fundamental structure and responsibilities of the Illinois Student Government.
Under the Constitution, the Illinois Student Government has also adopted a Register detailing our membership, operation, and function. The General Assembly By-Laws, contained within the Register, describe the operation of the body.

The Committee on Academic Affairs deals with issues directly related to the quality of education.
The Committee on Campus Affairs deals with issues directly related to the campus and student affairs.
Community and Governmental Affairs
The Committee on Community and Governmental Affairs deals with issues relating to the governance of the University and community.
The Committee on Financial Affairs oversees the financial actives of the Illinois Student Senate, and considers all fund allocation requests.
The Committee on Internal Affairs coordinates and oversees the internal operations of the Illinois Student Senate.
The Committee on Public Relations deals with the awareness and marketing of the Illinois Student Senate and its programs.

The Sub-Committee on Mental Health deals with issues surrounding mental health awareness and services at the University

The Sub-Committee on Environmental Sustainability deals with issues surrounding environmental sustainability at the University
Sub-Committee On Student Rights and Campus Safety
The Sub-Committee on Campus Safety and Student Rights deals with issues relating to University safety, as well as policy, student discipline, and law enforcement
It's On Us Task Force
It's On Us is a national campaign to combat sexual assault on college campuses. The It's On Us Task Force coordinates the It's On Us campaign, including national relations, on the University of Illinois Campus.
